Humanity is the real religion: DC

Aurangabad, Oct 23:

The district collector Sunil Chavan said, " Our country is a bouquet of diverse culture. Forgetting one''s religion and extending help to others during the pandemic situation displays humanity, which is the real religion according to me."

He was speaking at a function organised by Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind to felicitate Covid Warriors at MGM''s Rukmini Hall. JUH feted the representatives of various organisations and doctors for their outstanding contribution during Covid-19 pandemic situation. These organisations were admitting patients irrespective of his caste, providing medicines to patients and performing last rites upon patients of different religions.

" We have deployed 7,500 personnel for a survey of 10 lakh families. Of which, the list of 1.05 lakh families is with me. These families need special attention and care," said the collector.

In his presidential speech, the Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind''s state secretary Maulana Hali Mullah Qasmi said, " It was propagated that the spread of Coronavirus Disease was due to Tablighi persons. Later on, the court warned. Our organisation is non-political and was established on the base of humanity as the religion, in 1919. The organisation spent some Rs 25-30 crore to provide help and succour to patients since the beginning of Covid-19 pandemic."

The organisation specially feted GMCH dean Dr Kanan Yelikar, AMC health officer Dr Neeta Padalkar, Ciigma''s Dr Unmesh Takalkar on occasion.

Dr Yelikar mentioned the initial days of Covid-19 which were quite confusing. There was a war-like situation, and all had worked day and night.

MP Bhagwat Bhagwat Karad highlighted the roles of Qadeer Maulana and Ilyas Kirmani in electing him as mayor in 1999.

Jinsi police station police inspector V M Kendre mentioned that 922 Covid-19 patients were identified from the jurisdiction. Out of which, 130 died, and now 15-20 patients are undergoing treatment. I worked visiting the bylanes of the Roshan Gate area and all of them coordinated, he said. Qadeer Maulana also shared his experience.

Earlier, the JUH''s Aurangabad secretary Hafiz Abdul Azim made an introductory speech. Sohail Zakiuddin and Mustafa Khan conducted the proceedings. Nayab Ansari, Adv Nawab Patel, Cidco police station PI Ashok Giri and many office-bearers and activists of Jamiat were present in large numbers.
