Hurdles of electricity poles remain on newly constructed roads

Aurangabad, July 15:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has renovated the city roads recently. However, the electricity poles are seen erected in these newly constructed roads at various places. The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has ignored to remove the poles from the road and the corporation has also not persuaded the issue for the past four years. These poles are posing a severe threat to accidents.

The AMC has paid the amount to remove the poles for constructing the road four years back, but the company has completely ignored this work. The road expansion drive was implemented in 2011. The city roads were renovated since then, but the poles remained as it is. The government had paid grants of crores of rupees for the construction of around 35 roads, and the works were done without removing the police. Hence, the poles are standing on the roads. Poles can be seen on the roads between Jaibhavaninagar to Shivajinagar, Janki Hotel to Mehersingh College, API Corner to MIDC Chikalthana, and other places.

The sources claimed that around Rs 4 crores have been paid to the MSEDCL so far to remove the poles. These included Rs 1.76 Cores for removing the police on the road between Sansthan Ganpati to Jinsi Sub-Station Road, Rs 1.40 crores for the road between Kailasnagar Crematorium to MGM Hospital, Rs 24 lakh for shifting line at Roshan Gate, Rs 12 lakh for line shifting at Shivajinagar, Garkheda, Rs 27 lakh at Samarthnagar, High Court Colony, Satara Amdar Road, and Rs 5 lakh for Mehersingh Naik to Emerald City road.
