Impetus on enhancing air connectivity

Aurangabad, June 13:

The Aurangabad city air connectivity was severely hamperred in the past one and a half years due to the Corona crisis. One airline closed its operations from the city in just seven months after the launch. Similarly, two airlines have suspended the services temporarily. Presently, only Air India is providing the air service for Mumbai and Delhi now. The air passengers have demanded that the air connectivity of the city should be restored as before. Efforts in this regard are being taken at various levels.

In 2019, the industrialists, tour operators, politicians and others followed up to start the air services from the city to various destinations. Later, Mumbai, Delhi, Udaypur, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Channai, Hyderabad cities were connected to the city through air routes. The Chikalthana Airport used to be crowded with the passengers. However, the air services to these cities hamperred due to the Corona pandemic.

SpiceJet started Aurangabad - Delhi service from October 8, 2019 and later to various other destinations. SpiceJet closed it operations from the city in just seven months due to Corona crisis. Similarly, TruJet and Indigo have also suspended the services temporarily.

Industrialist Sunit Kothari said, discussions are going on with the Indigo officials to start the services again. Similarly, issue is also persuaded with the Air India officials. Presently, Air India's Mumbai, Delhi passengers are on a rise. Efforts are being taken to restore all the previous services, he said.
