Aurangabad, July 6: Collector Sunil Chavan today said an Investors Meet will be held in Aurangabad soon to attract industries. Speaking to senior editors of local newspapers here today, Chavan said the district has fought Covid-19 very well and now focus will be on skill development and agriculture marketing.

“Additional chief secretary (industry) will be in the city on July 16 and 17 and the issue of potential investors and bringing them to Shendra and Bidkin legs of DMIC will be discussed. The administration has a policy to lay down red carpet for industries,’’ he said.

Following are excerpts from discussion on various issues:

Agriculture marketing:

Farmers now have good know-how like which crop is to be taken and when. They need support in marketing and we are aiming to do this through youths and self help groups. In the last five years, 854 farmers have ended life. We have appointed guardian officers to look after farmers’ needs and guide them.

Skill development

Out of the total Gross Domestic Produce (GDP) of Aurangabad, 50 per cent is from service sector, followed by 35 per cent (industry) and 12 per cent (agriculture). This highlights the need for providing manpower suited to requirements of the service sector and industry. So, skill development will be a priority.

Water supply to industrial estates

A total of 53 Elevated Storage Reservoirs will be built to ensure adequate water supply through the new Rs 1680 crore scheme. By December, supply to the city will be enhanced by 20 MLD and by March it will be up by 50 MLD. Efforts will be made to provide 50 MLD water to Waluj and 75 MLD to Shendra industrial estates to ensure industries get enough water.

Tourism development

Efforts will be made to start the boat ride facility in Mombatta lake in Daulatabad. An amphitheater, wherein performing arts can be presented on open stage, will be built near Subhedari Guest House. An amount of Rs 2.5 crore has been released for renovation of Sant Eknath Rangmandir and it will be reopened soon. Expression of Interest has been invited for development of Sant Dnyaneshwar Garden at Paithan.

Divisional sports complex Garkheda

The issue of hefty hike in the fees at Sports Complex will be discussed and efforts made to rationalise fees structure. The farmhouse where parties are held violating rules will have to pay cess.

Aurangabad-Paithan road widening

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the proposed four-laning work of 45 kilo metres black top Aurangabad-Paithan Road has been completed and presented to Nagpur and it will be sanctioned within a month. National Highway Authority of India will do the roadwork on the existing carriageway so there is no need for land acquisition.
