Labourer loses Rs 48 K in fire; dream of wall construction shattered

Aurangabad, July 18:

The dream of a labourer to construct a house wall from cement concrete was shattered after his money Rs 48,000 were burnt in a short circuit.

According to details, Vinayak Wahul lives at Ashok Nagar in Shahbazaar area. He owns a house constructed in clay at the edge of a nullah in the area.

The nullah overflows in Monsoon every year and one of the walls of his house gets wet because of its water. He saved Rs 48,000 to construct the wall from cement concrete.

As the water of nullah entres his house in the rainy season, he kept Rs 48,000 and his Aadhar Card and his son’s educational documents and Aadhar Card in a plastic carry bag to avoid damage from s water.

He hung the plastic bag to an electricity switchboard which had a spark on Sunday afternoon due to a short circuit.

The plastic bag containing currency notes, education documents got partially burnt in a fire. He was saving money for the past two years for the wall’s construction.

Vinayak and his family members were in pain because of this loss.

Talking to this newspaper, Vinayak said that he had saved money by doing works like daily wage labourer on garbage collection ‘Ghanta Gadi.’

“I kept money and documents at safe place considering rainwater. But, all of them burnt,” he added.
