Land acquisition for runway expansion soon

Aurangabad, June 18:

District collector Sunil Chavan on Friday sought information about the land acquisition for the expansion of the runway at the Chikalthana Airport. Presently, the measurement of the 250 properties under the limits of the urban land measurement office is being conducted. In all, 182 acres land will be acquired for the expansion in four stages including 155 acres from the Chikalthana area, 20 acres from Mukundwadi and remaining from two other points. Chavan visted the sites and inspected the status of the measurement and sought information from the urban land measurement and tehsil land record departments.

The Maharashtra Airport Development Company has paid the fees to the land measurement and land record department for the measurement of the land to be acquired. The measurement of the land in Gut no. 410, 414, 415, 416, 417 and 555 in Chikalthana area was completed in January. The length of the runway presently is 9,300 feet (2,835 mts). The proposed runway after expansion will be 12,000 feet.

Chavan said, today he visited the sites and took information about the land acquisition. A list of the properties to be acquired for expansion will be prepared. A plan to acquire 182 acres land will be made after final discussions with the property owners and then the situation about the land acquisition will be cleared, he said.
