Aurangabad, June 28:

The Lokmat Group of Newspapers will organise a mega blood donation camp at Lokmat Bhavan on July 2 under the ‘Lokmat Raktach Nata’ initiative to help in reducing blood shortage in the city.

It may be noted that blood donation can save many lives. However, blood donation camps were not held in the city because of Covid restrictions. The shortage of blood is creating hurdles in many surgeries and treatment.

The birth anniversary of the founder of Lokmat Group of Newspapers and freedom fighter Jawaharlalji Darda alias Babuji will be celebrated on July 2.

A mega blood donation camp under ‘Lokmat Raktach Nata’ initiative will be inaugurated at Lokmat Bhavan at 10 am, on July 2, in the presence of dignitaries.

Patients with Thalassemia and Sickle Cell need regular blood. They were facing inconvenience in Covid lockdown due to blood paucity. Also, pregnant women and injured persons of accident need instant blood. Blood donors will have to come forward to give life to needy persons.

Since blood banks have a blood shortage, doctors are experience problems while treating patients. Lokmat Group of Newspapers, as social commitment, decided to take the initiative. Citizens have been urged to participate in the camp to be held at city and tehsils to establish a mega blood donation movement.

Who can donate blood?

--Those who are in the age group of 18 to 50 years

--Those who completed 28 days after Covid treatment

--Those who completed 14 days after taking the first or second dose of vaccine.
