Merchants' delegation meets UD minister; opposes license fee collection

Aurangabad, Feb 13:

Various delegation of merchants and traders today submitted a memorandum to the urban development minister Eknath Shinde claiming that it is unjust to impose a license fee upon them as they are already under the burden with many other licenses. They also mentioned that the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to increase its revenue is imposing the license fee upon them from April 1.

The delegation comprising senior vice president of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), Ajay Shah, Marathwada Chamber of Trade and Commerce (MCTC) president Praful Malani, Zilla Vyapari Mahasangh president Jaganath Kale, secretary Laxminarayan Rathi, Vijay Jayaswal and Jayant Devlankar met the urban development minister in the city. " The delegation had a detailed discussion with the minister. We will be giving the memorandum to the city's MLAs and MP as well. The Mahasangh will strongly object if the AMC initiates to impose the license fee," said Jaganath Kale.

Praful Malani welcomes the AMC administrator's decision to grant 75 concession in delay payment charges and interest on the principal amount of the property tax due till March 31, 2020. " The financial condition of all had been affected due to lockdown. Hence the AMC should give concession in the interest and penalty levied in the current year bill (2020-21). We expect to consider the plea of those who pay their taxes regularly," he said.
