MKM organises torch rally for Maratha reservation; community welfare

Aurangabad, Jan 28:

Maratha Kranti Morcha (MKM) will be organising a torch (mashall) rally, to press various demands including reservations and community welfare, from Sasht Pimpalgaon (in Ambad tehsil) to Kranti Chowk (Aurangabad) on February 1 at 10 am.

While addressing the press conference (on Thursday), the organiser Sanjay Sawant said, " the villagers of Sasht Pimpalgaon are agitating for the demands of the Maratha community since January 20. They are also gaining support from the surrounding villages. The Supreme Court had granted an interim stay on the reservation, although 42 community persons sacrificed their lives, and police cases were registered against 13,726 agitators during the struggle. The state government had also not taken any move to lift the interim stay, instead, it had announced recruitment drive. Hence our demand is also to postpone the recruitment till the interim stay is not lifted."

The rally will culminate at Kranti Chowk in Aurangabad (at 3 pm) with 'Thiyya Andolan' to draw the attention of government towards the demands. Amol Salunke, Subhash Bhosale, Ganesh Ugale, Pradeep Navale and others were also present on occasion.
