Aurangabad, Jan 24:

Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Shirsath started opposing bicycle track on Kranti Chowk to Railway Station road as it is creating a problem for traders and traffic.

Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray inaugurated the bicycle track on January 16.

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation developed the cycle track on the road within a short span.

The road was constructed at the cost of Rs 35 crore under Suvarnapath Scheme. This is the only safe route from a traffic point of view. People are facing different problems because of the bicycle track and opposing it. MLA Shirsath too opposing to the track.

It may be noted that before Aditya Thackeray’s arrival, guardian minister Subhash Desai held a meeting of party office-bearers. Some office-bearers complained about losses for traders and traffic. Also, there is a 700 mm water pipeline under the track.

Despite this, the AMC administration implemented the bicycle track concept. The officer-bearers and MLA Shirsath had made a complaint with the guardian minister.

Since invitation cards were printed, nothing was done. Within one week, the traders and traffic are feeling its effects.

MLA Sanjay Shirsath said that the bicycle track is proving a hurdle than enhancing the city's beauty. He said that he would submit a letter to the AMC administration on January 25.

“Not more than ten bicycles pass through the track in a day. The track is proving a hurdle for the traffic as the road has turned narrow. It is forcing people to park four-wheeler on the road.

Those who have given their land for road widening, how can they do their business? The track should be removed as all suffering from it,” he added.
