MP demands action against merchants, wakf officials, in usurpation of Wakf land

Aurangabad, March 8:

The MP Imtiaz Jaleel, along with his activists, have staged a dharna in front of Akashwani to press the demand of taking action against rich land-grabbers and Wakf Board officials today evening.

The land, situated on the left-hand side of Jalna road (from Mondha Naka to Akashwani Signal), is owned by the Maharashtra State Board of Wakfs (MSBoW). The agitators claimed that the market value of land is crores of rupees, but these 'rich' businessmen grabbed it by paying peanuts to Wakf Board. They maintained a hand in glove with wakf officials to take possession of the primely located properties. Some of them managed to get it on a long lease, while some directly transferred the Wakf property in their names.

The MP had met the state home minister during the last month and submitted a memorandum comprising various demands. Accordingly, the minister had ordered the police machinery to conduct the inquiry and submit the report. In the meantime, the MP held a press conference and stressed to file offences against the persons guilty within one month. He had also informed about going on an indefinite strike with the activists of all over Marathwada, opposite to district collectorate if the offences are not filed against culprits involved in the land scam.

Later on, the MP got Coronavirus infected; as a result, the agitation was postponed. Today evening, Jaleel, along with activists, staged a dharna near the city bus stop, opposite the Akashwani. The agitators held placards in their hands and shouted slogans. The MP also interacted with the media persons. He underlined that he would continue to stage dharnas till action is not taken against those involved in the usurpation of Wakf land. Former corporators Vikas Yedke, Gangadhar Dhage, along with Shaikh Ahmed, Subhash Waghule and others were present on occasion.
