MSEDCL to visit door to door for recovery of electricity bill

Aurangabad, March 21:

To make it a habit for electricity consumers to pay their bills regularly throughout the year, MSEDCL will go to their doorsteps and remind them to pay their electricity bills. We intend to start this project in April, informed chief engineer Bhujang Khandare.

Khandare said the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) job is to provide good service to the customers. But now we have to take action to recover power bills. This is also costing manpower and time. Considering the lockdown, the government decided to provide instalments to pay the electricity bill. Many customers have taken advantage of this opportunity. Many customers have paid the full electricity bill rather than paying interest on the bill. However, 50 per cent of electricity consumers did not pay their electricity bills on time. As a result, arrears have increased. This initiative will definitely build a habit in customers for paying electricity bills regularly, said Khandare.

Rs 464 crore arrears

The MSEDCL has unpaid due of Rs 179.84 crore with electricity consumers this year. With last year's arrears, the figure has reached Rs 464 crore. MSEDCL employees are being attacked in many places during recovery. MSEDCL will not tolerate these attacks. Legal action has been ordered against the assailants said, Khandare.
