Aurangabad, Jan 18:

Despite the possibility of another wave of Covid-19, there will be no lockdown in the district. If the number of patients increases, decisions will be taken at the local level through coordination, said acting collector Anant Gavhane in a press conference. All the administrative bodies have also appealed that Shiv Jayanti should be celebrated as per the rules laid down by the government.

Against the backdrop of the possibility of a second wave of corona infection, a press conference was held at the collectorate regarding the preventive action being taken by the administration.

Gavhane said, we have to be careful. As the patient number grows, tough decisions will have to be made. A second wave of corona is expected. Also, the number of corona patients in the city has been on the rise for the past two weeks. The health administration is also saying that this is a new strain. Therefore, all citizens are urged to take precaution to prevent another outbreak of corona in the district. There are 115 treatment facilities available in the district with 99,763 beds, 532 ICUs, 300 ventilators are available. Vaccination has also started in the district and 41.54 per cent people have been vaccinated and after March 16, the people above age of 50 will be vaccinated. Police commissioner Nikhil Gupta, municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey, superintendent of police Mokshada Patil along with Municipal health officer Dr Nita Padalkar were present.

Formation of 50 squads

In all 50 teams of Tehsildars and deputy tehsildars have been formed in the district. Notices have been issued to 190 marriage halls. Patients have been on the rise for three days in rural areas. The administration will consider the demarcation in the district depending on the situation.
