No need for building permission to construct on 1500 sq ft plot: Eknath Shinde

Aurangabad, Feb 13:

Maharashtra's urban development (UD) minister Eknath Shinde today said that there will be no need to wait for the building permission from Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to construct upon a plot area of 1500 square feet under Unified Development Control Rules (U-DCR). Besides, the local-self body is also bound to grant permission within 10 days, to citizens constructing upon a plot of 3,000 square feet area.

While addressing the media persons at the district collectorate today afternoon, the urban development minister said, " The decision aims to curb the growing illegal constructions in the city and reduce red-tapism in the building permission. A person desirous of constructing upon 1500 square feet area should not wait for the building permission from the AMC. Instead, he should submit the building plan, pay the scrutiny fees to the town planning section (of AMC) and start the construction as per the submitted plan. Moreover, the civic administration is also instructed to grant permission in 10 days to a person desirous to start construction on a plot area of 3,000 square feet under U-DCR. The development also aims at enhancing the financial resources of the civic body."

The EGS minister Sandeepan Bhumre, minister of state for revenue Abdul Sattar, principal secretary Mahesh Pathan, district collector Sunil Chavan, MLA Pradeep Jaiswal, MLC Ambadas Danve and many others were present on occasion.

He also mentioned that one free floor space index (FSI) will be awarded in the newly constructed buildings to construct recreation floor so that the occupants staying in buildings could organise functions on this dedicated floor. U-DCR also ensures that there is no misuse of FSI. The additional FSI will also be granted to buildings of height up till 50 metres on payment of 5 per cent premium, said the minister also elaborating on the ancillary FSI, construction TDR, road construction TDR etc.

GR of staffing pattern on Monday

Shinde declared that the government resolution (GR) regarding the new staffing pattern of AMC will be issued on Monday. It will help AMC to function target-oriented, smoothly and reduce the workload upon the existing staff. It may be noted that the AMC had recommended the recruitment of 4,975 fresh posts (of various grades) under the new staffing pattern. With the GR's issuance, the strength of staff in AMC would be 9,081 sanctioned posts.

The minister also mentioned handling the issues of the dangerous and dilapidated building through cluster development.

Giving a push to the tourism sector

The urban development minister also mentioned that we have revised the FSI for the construction to give a push to the tourism sector. From one FSI, we had increased up to 3. Besides, to promote agri-tourism, we had revised the 0.20 FSI to one FSI. The aim is providing relief to the farmers and encouraging them to participate in agri-tourism. The job opportunities will be created and will also attract revenue, he said.
