No recruitment in the state till the stay on Maratha reservation is lifted

Aurangabad, Jan 9:

The state government should not carry out any recruitment drive till the Supreme Court lifts the stay on Maratha reservation, demand the activists of the Maratha Kranti Thok Morcha at the Elgar Parishad organized here today.

The Elgar Parishad was held at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagriha. Speaking on the occasion, organiser of the council Ramesh Kere Patil said that the Maratha community got SEBC reservation after 54 rallies. However, the Supreme Court granted interim stay on the reservation. There is now uncertainty about the future of students taking higher education and candidates preparing for competitive examinations of Maratha community.

Ashok Chavan, who heads the cabinet sub-committee on Maratha reservation cannot do justice to the society. It was demanded that he should be removed from the post and a knowledgeable person should be made the chairman of the reservation committee. Funds of Rs 1,000 crore should be given to Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation. He said that the accused involved in Kopardi case should be hanged immediately. Patil also said that Elgar Parishad would be held in every district of the state to draw the attention of the government to the demands of the society. Shailesh Bhise, Dr A Vanarse, Kiran Kale Patil, Manoj Murdare, Shubham Kere, Tejas Pawar, Bharat Kadam, Pandharinath Godse, Appasaheb Jadhav, Motibhau Wagh and community members were present in large numbers.

Agitation at Kranti Chowk

It was informed that if the stay on Maratha reservation is not lifted on January 25, a sit-in stir will be held at Kranti Chowk from January 28. Agitation will be organized against the minister Balasaheb Thorat who opposed the renaming of the city as Sambhajinagar.
