No sanitisers, no thermal guns in the ATM centres

Aurangabad, Feb 25:

The number of Cocid-19 patients has been increasing again since last week. But no security measures have been taken at the ATM centres in the city as no sanitisers, no temperature checks are being carried out at any ATMs. Several ATM centres are also crowded with people throughout the day. It is feared that this may lead to a further rise in corona infection in the city.

The city has about 350 ATMs of nationalized and private banks. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had instructed the banks to carry out sanitization of ATM centres at regular intervals. But only a few banks kept sanitisers at the centres during the corona period. But as the virus slowed down, sanitisers were removed. As ATMs are more convenient to use than visiting banks, the centres are crowded with a large number of citizens. It is necessary to sanitize the entire ATM centre premises after a certain period of time as well as to use the sanitiser after withdrawal or payment. With the sudden rise in patients, it is necessary that banks use thermal guns to detect patients entering the premises of ATMs. However, as there are no such facility in place, the citizens are forced to use ATM at their own risk. Similarly, several people crowd the ATM premises at a single time due to a lack of security guards. Citizens are demanding that corona rules be followed at ATMs.

Positive person can unknowingly use the ATM

There is no sanitiser in any of the ATM centres in the city. This means that any person who is covid positive can unknowingly use the ATM machine, which may lead to several people getting infected with the deadly virus. Then no matter how many lockdowns are in place, the speed of the coronavirus will not decrease.

Can be super spreaders

Corona is said to be spreading at a higher speed than before. Thus the administration needs to take steps that could stop the spread of the virus. Lack of sanitization of ATM centres can lead to an increase in the number of super spreaders.
