Online food order business flourish as home isolations rise

Many businesses are facing financial woes due to Covid-19, but the business of delivering readymade lunch box to corona patients is booming. Several restaurants, Poli-Bhaji kendra are receiving hundreds of orders a day.

The number of corona patients in the city is increasing. Small-to-large hospitals are said to have no bed left. This causes patients to stay in home isolation. In some areas, the whole family is found corona positive. These patients are then ordering online food from the poli-bhaji kendras that offers home-cooked food. As a result, the business of these centres in the city is booming. Since March 3, the number of meal parcel orders has increased so much that the number of women cooks has been increased and they are being called to work in two shifts. In addition, more than 50 lunch boxes are being ordered simultaneously from private corona centres.

Some restaurants are serving healthy food to patients. In addition, due to the low number of weddings, about 15 catering professionals have now jumped into the business by opening retail counters to deliver food parcels. As a result, about 150-200 women and men have got employment.

Many corona patients are now being treated at home. This has led to an increase in home delivery meal parcel orders since last March. At present, 60 per cent of parcel orders come from patients in home isolation and 40 per cent of parcel orders come from patients undergoing treatment at private hospitals. Meals are served from a use and throw plastic box, said Ravindra Modi, owner of Poli Bhaji Kendra.
