Aurangabad, March 7:

The ambitious Maha Awas Gramin Yojana launched by the chief minister in the state aims to provide housing to the beneficiaries in 100 days. However, only 819 houses were built in 100 days. House building in the district has not gone beyond 44.40 per cent. Out of the sanctioned 39,025 houses, only 17,700 houses have been completed and 22,162 families are waiting to get a roof over their heads.

The scheme was launched on the occasion of National Housing Day on November 20, 2020, the objective was to build 39,862 houses. Meanwhile, 31,699 houses were sanctioned in the district while 16,881 houses were completed. In the last 100 days, only 819 houses were completed and 7,326 houses of beneficiaries were sanctioned. The construction of 22,162 houses has not been completed due to various reasons. Various schemes including the Prime minister housing scheme, Ramai, Shabari, Pardhi Awas Yojana are implemented through the district rural development agency. In fact, these works are done by the group development officers. The incidence of the corona was reduced from the inception of the Maha Avas scheme. However, the work of all the scheme could not be completed by more than 45 per cent. The completion rate is low in Khultabad, Sillod, Soygaon and Phulambri tehsils, while Gangapur, Vaijapur and Paithan tehsils have taken the lead.
