Only trained drivers allowed filling oxygen in tanks

Aurangabad, April 22:

The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has taken the decision that only the trained drivers will be allowed to fill the oxygen in the tanks at the GMCH from the tankers. A team will inspect whether the drivers are trained for it or not. Similarly, employees have been deployed in the area to keep a watch on the tanks.

In the backdrop of the oxygen leakage incident at Nashik, the health machinery in the state have aroused from deep slumber. The serious Corona patients are being treated in the GMCH. The tanker drivers which bring the liquid oxygen at the GMCH fill the oxygen in the tanks themselves. Hence, to avert any untoward incident, the administration has decided that only trained drivers will be allowed to fill in the tanks. Taking more precaution, employees have also be deployed in the tank area near medicine department to keep a watch.

Dean Dr Kanan Yelikar said that there is a committee in the GMCH to look after the oxygen affairs. A team will keep a watch whether the drivers are train or not. The demand has reduced by 5 tons now. Similarly, attempts are also being made to save the oxygen, she said.
