Opinion of HoDs sought on M Phil

Vice-chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) Dr Pramod Yeole asked all the departments head to submit their opinion for running M Phil course in the current new academic year.

It may be noted that M Phil would be scrapped with the implementation of New Education Police from 2022. A meeting of department heads was held on Tuesday, to take a review of M Phil. VC Dr Pramod Yeole chaired it. There are 42 departments and off them 17 offer M Phil grant-in course. The intake for each department is 20. There scarcity of teaching staff in many departments. Some of them one or two teachers only. Also, as per the norms, a professor can guide a maximum of three M Phil students, an associate professor and an assistant professor were permitted to guide two and one respectively. The department heads will have to submit their opinion in two days. The vice-chancellor has shown a willingness to conduct a Ph D Entrance Test (PET). After 2017, no PET was held. The PET is likely to be given in the New Year.
