This has proved by Congress on a national level in COVID situation. BJP which is trying to put ruling parties in trouble in the State with envy, seems to have has lost commitment,” said Vijay Chormare, a political analyst.

He was speaking in a lecture on ‘Changing Political Situation and Role of Opposition’ organised by Loksamvad Foundation on Sunday. Vijay Chormare said that opposition parties had seen many ups and downs in the post-Independence era.

“Our country did not get opposition party between 2014 and 2019. This is not the first time. It had happened three times earlier. Congress as opposition party forced the Central Government to make many decisions,” he said.

He said that there bright traditional opposition leader in the State.

“Manohar Joshi was elected opposition leader in 1990 after Shiv Sena and BJP alliance. He worked very seriously. Present opposition leader in the State Devendra Fadnavis o is a very studious leader, but he is working to topple the Government than working as opposition leader,” he added.
