Aurangabad, March 21:

More than 6,000 candidates remained absent for Maharashtra Public Service Commission’s preliminary examinations held at 59 centres in the city on Sunday.

It may be noted that 19,644 candidates registered for the test from the district. Most of the candidates reached the centre at a given time. The fever and oxygen level of each candidate was examined at the entrance.

They were given mask, two pouches of santiser and hand gloves before their entry to the examination hall.

The entrance of the centres was closed after 9.30 am. The first paper which had 200 marks for 100 questions of general knowledge, was held between 10 am to 12 noon while the second was from 3 pm to 5 pm. This paper had 200 marks for 80 questions based on logical reasoning. There is a negative marking for both the papers.

A total of 13,346 were present (67.17 per cent) in the first session while 6,300 were absent.

In the afternoon session, 13,627 (69.36 pc) took the paper while 6,019 did not turn up.

A total of nine COVID patients wearing PPE kit appeared for the examination at six centres.

The names of the centres are as follows; PES College of Engineering, Vivekanand College, S B College, Vasantrao Naik College, Holy Cross Marathi High School and Hi-Tech College. The examinees were sweating because of the kit.

One of them reached S B College in the morning by ambulance. The centre administration made an arrangement for his sitting. Many candidates were seen happy as they took the examination finally. They said that they were waiting for the test for the past two years.

“Our dream is to become an officer. The first phase was over. We were upset over the constant postponing the preliminary examination,” they said.
