Parents, teachers & principals favour holding actual classes in schools

Aurangabad, June 16:

Parents, school teachers and principals favour holding actual classes in medium schools in the city in a phased-manner with all precaution and measures.

It may be noted that the State Government lifted the complete lockdown restrictions from the city from June 7 after 14 to 15 months. All departments, including function halls, grounds, gardens, malls, were reopened in the city. The schools were reopened. However, permission is not given to hold actual classes so far. There is permission to conduct online classes, but, seem not much effective in maintaining students' learning interest who find only a few chapters of the syllabus good for learning online.

The schools have done preparations like cleaning and disinfecting premises, maintaining physical distance between two students.

Parents many parents are ready to send their children to schools while others feel that schools should wait for some more weeks.

Teachers and principals appear in favour of conducting actual classes in the schools by following all Covid measures and taking all care of students.

One of the parents, Mohsin Ansari said that the actual classes should be held as there is much academic loss of students for more than one year.

“Students, specially of 10th class, can be allowed to attend actual classes on alternate days, however, before that, there is a need to consult the doctors and scientists about the third wave,” he added.

Principal of Nath Valley High School Ranjit Dass said that actual classes of standard 9th to 12th can be held by taking all Covid measures and care.

“We request the district administration to give permission for students to attend actual classes. Even parents are ready to send their children to school considering academic loss during the lockdown period and lifting restrictions on all the departments by the Government in the city. A total of 50 per cent of students can be allowed to attend the asses. If everything goes smoothly, permission for classes from 5th to 8th can be given.

Dr Angelo M D'cruize, the principal of Stepping Stones High School, said that they had disinfected the school premises and vaccinated the school staff as part of preparations to hold actual classes for students. He said that there is no doubt Covid measures like the use of mask and santiser would be followed strictly.

“We have reshaped syllabus taking into a possible future pandemic situation. The difficult portion will be finished in the beginning in the offline classes. Many parents who are ready to send children to school say that as their children can play and go outside, they can go to school also,”

he asserted.
