Aurangabad, April 19:

Parents seemed to be upset over the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decision to promote students of 10th standard without holding their examinations.

There are 48 CBSE affiliated schools in the district with 2800 students.

Of them, 21 schools have 12th class course with 471 intakes.

Parents get prepared to children well in 12th standard for obtaining admission in prominent professional institutes.

Offline classes were started in the district at November end (2020). But, hardly 60 per cent students were present. The schools were shut down and online classes re-started with the rise in COVID patients.

The CBSE announced the promotion of the students next class without conducting their examination because of the second pandemic wave.

The schools were entitled to give marks on the basis of internal assessment.

Many parents feel the quality of education cannot be judged without evaluation of a student through examinations.

Pradeep Suradkar, a parent, feels that the Central Board should have waited for the examinations until the COVID wave ends.

“There are different questions on what criteria students would get admission in 11th standard and how evaluation of study done students would be carried out,” he added.

Another parent Pallavi Malani said that the decision to promote students is good, but students should be given admissions in a stream of their choice without any criteria.

Educationist Satish Tambat said that students would not face any difficulty during the 11th class admissions since the number of seats is higher than students strength.

“The students may face problem polytechnic admissions. As a solution, the polytechnics can conduct a separate entrance test than giving admissions on the basis of 10th,” he added.
