Parking lots issue remains unsolved

Aurangabad, Feb 6:

It is mandatory to provide parking space in the buildings, but parking spaces are not available at many buildings in the city. Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) town planning and anti-encroachment department had taken joint action against such eight buildings earlier, but now this drive has been hampered. In the first phase of the drive, the parking spaces at 39 places were cleared and now in the second phase, a list of 100 such places have been provided to the anti-encroachment department.

Parking spaces are not available at various commercial buildings. Shops have been constructed in the proposed parking lots and sold in the complexes. Hence, no parking lots are available in the commercial complexes. The resident going to these complexes have to park their vehicles on the road which causes frequent traffic jams.

AMC prepared a list of such 39 complexes and action was taken against three to four such places. Moreover, there are several complexes on both sides of Jalna Road where there are no parking lots available, but the administration has not taken any firm action in this regard. The officers and employees refrain from taking action due to the political pressures, the sources said.

Now, the town planning department has given a list of 100 such places to the anti-encroachment department, informed the assistant director, Town Planning, Jayant Kharwadkar. After receiving the list, it is the responsibility of the department to take action against such properties. However, the officers and the employees seem to be apathetic towards it.
