Policy for Children’s treatment in Corona third wave

Aurangabad, May 10:

The experts have opined that the second Corona wave will cease in the next few days, but the health machinery has already started preparations to combat the third wave. It is feared that the third wave will be more dangerous for children. Hence, a policy is being drafted for the treatment of the children infected from Covid during the third wave. Stress is being given on increasing the ventilators and ICU beds and also recruiting the pediatricians.

The experts have opined that the second wave of Corona will cease in June but the third wave can emerge after three or four months. It will affect mostly the children. Hence, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is planning to establish a 100 beds children’s hospital. The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) is also preparing for ICU beds and ward for children, informed dean Dr Kanan Yelikar.

Health deputy director Dr Swapnil Lale said, the situation in the countries hit by the third wave is being taken and preparations will be made accordingly. Arrangements for ventilators and beds and recruitment of pediatricians are on the top priority.

Health assistant director Dr Pradeep Kurambikar said, the severity in the children having cardiac and other diseases can increase during the third wave. The parents should take good care of their children and stress will be laid on the vaccination of the parents, he said.
