Polling for 617 Gram Panchayats today

Aurangabad, Jan 14:

Polling for 617-gram panchayats (GPs) in the district will be held on January 15. Revenue and police, the health administration will work together to pass off the voting peacefully in the wake of the corona outbreak.

The candidates started campaigning from January 5. After the end of the campaigning on January 13, the candidates started making strategy for voting and emphasized on personal meetings. The election campaign was enhanced by high-tech campaigning on social media. About 15 lakh voters will exercise their right to vote.

Precautions on the background of corona

Against the backdrop of the corona, the health department, in collaboration with the block development officers and the GP, will conduct the screening of voters on polling day. The team will also use sanitizers, pulse oximeter and thermal gun.

Results on January 18

GP election counting and results have been prepared at the tehsildar level. Counting of votes will be done in 9 tehsils on January 18.

No one will be spared

Police bandobast will be deployed at all voting stations. Anyone who tries to obstruct the voting process will be immediately arrested and charged. No one will be spared, said superintendent of police Mokshada Patil.

All preparations made

Deputy collector general administration Rita Maitrewar said that the elections are being controlled and managed at the taluka level and full preparations have been made. The administration is gearing up for a peaceful election process.
