Aurangabad, Jan 24:

There is a possibility of using funds of the District Planning Committee (DPC) in haste before March 31.

District guardian minister Subhash Desai will hold DPC meeting at 11.30 am on January 25.

It may be noted that the fund of DPC was diverted to the health department with the spread of Novel coronavirus. There is a draft of Rs 325 crore development works up to March 31. The State Government released 33 per cent (Rs 107 crore) as first installment last year. A total of 25 pc amount from it was used for COVID measures.

The department received Rs 14.43 crore from DPC before March 31, 2020. Of them, Rs 12 crore were allotted to Aurangabad Municipal Corporation.

In the March last year, it was decided to allot 25 per cent fund from DPC for COVID measures, but, with the rising number of patients, the decision to provide 33 per cent taken as the revenue of the Government had come down.

The DPC received 107 crores while 25 pc of it was given to the health department.

Public representatives were given fund as the rush of activists and office-bearers is seen in the planning department for administrative approval.

District planning officer Subhash Jhunjare said that the DPC had received 100 pc fund. “There is a draft of development works of Rs 325 crore up to March 31, 2021. The pace of development works will increase on receiving the fund,” he added.
