Power of 1,500 customers in Waluj disconnected

Aurangabad, March 2:

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has cut off the power supply to nearly 1,500 customers in the Waluj area. These customers have arrears of Rs 8.50 crore. However, Rs 2 crore has been recovered.

MSEDCL has about 23,000 domestic and commercial customers in 19 villages like Waluj, Ranjangaon, Jogeshwari, Ramrai, Narayanpur, Shivrai coming under the Waluj substation. Many did not pay their electricity bills due to rumours that the government would waive the electricity bills during the lockdown period. Meanwhile, MSEDCL had appealed for payment of electricity bills. However, due to low response from customers, MSEDCL is forcibly recovering electricity bills. Meanwhile, Panchayat Samiti member Deepak Bade demanded that MSEDCL should give time to the customers to pay the outstanding bills. He also made a statement to chief engineer Ramesh Khandare and superintendent engineer Sanjay Akole.

Arrears with 11,230 customers

During the year 11,230 customers have not paid their electricity bills. About 8,000 customers regularly pay electricity bills. The electricity connection of 1,500 customers will be disconnected said, assistant engineer P P Khandagle.
