Recovery agent of private bank brutally stabbed to death; incident came to light today

Aurangabad, Oct 21:

Recovery agent of a private bank has been stabbed to death in Peace Homes Society at Mitmita. The incident came to light today at 11 am. The assailants would have killed the agent two days ago and disappeared after locking his flat from outside.

The deceased have been identified as Mantoos Kumar Singh (40, a native of Bihar). He was staying as a tenant for the past six months in the housing society''s flat.

It so happened that the deceased''s friend Babloo took his car three days ago. The friend was surprised when Mantoos was not attending his calls for the past two days. As the day broke, Babloo along with his other friends again tried to contact Mantoos on the phone but was in vain. Hence Babloo came to return the car to Mantoos between 10.30 am and 11 am. He was surprised to see the door of the flat locked from outside. Besides, the foul smell was coming from the flat. He immediately informed the police, who then reached the spot and opened the door. Mantoos Kumar was lying dead on the sofa. There was blood on the sofa as well as on the ground. The intestine had also come out of his stomach. Hence it was crystal clear for the police that Mantoos was stabbed to death with a sharp-edged weapon.

The deceased was working as a recovery agent of an Urban Co-operative Bank. He was also a plotting agent and was an activist of a political party, said the sources.

The deceased is married and blessed with a six years old daughter. The family stays in Bihar. Deceased''s brother, however, stays in the city, but the relations between them were sour, learnt the police.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Nikesh Khatmode Patil, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Dinesh Kolhe, ACP (Cantonment) Vivek Saraf, police inspector Manoj Pagare, PSI (Crime Branch) Vithal Chaskar and others visited the spot for inspection.

The process of registering an offence was underway. Till late in the night the Cantonment police station has not registered the murder offence.
