Relatives turn back towards murderer cooling heels in Harsul police station

Aurangabad, April 26:

It a surprising development, the relatives of accused Raj Namdeo Jadhav (19, resident of Harsul), who was arrested by police on the charge of murdering Yash Mahendrakar, avoided contacting the police to inquire about his whereabouts, for the last three days.

A student of the second year B.Sc (Agri) Raj stabbed to death his friend Yash on Saturday night at Mayur Park. Harsul police station had registered an offence and is under police custody remand. The accused's father is a clerk in the revenue department and his elder brother is in Pune for higher education.

Displaying guilty feeling

After the heinous incident, Yash's friends (except Raj) rushed him to a private hospital on Jalgaon Road, but there was no bed vacant. As a result, the friends moved towards GMCH. However, the doctors declared him dead on examination. Meanwhile, Raj was constantly in touch with the friends and taking stock of the situation. As soon as he learnt that Yash is no more, the accused switched off his mobile phone. Acting upon the information, the police succeeded in arresting him immediately. The accused is feeling guilty of the murder and is spotted crying in the lock-up, said the sources.

PSI Maruti Khillare is investigating the case.

Murder weapon seized

The police had seized the sharp-edged weapon used to stab Yash from Raj's possession on Sunday. It is learnt that the accused is notorious and a case of an attempt to murder is registered against him in the past, said the sources.

It is learnt that the parents of Raj were aware of his bad companionship. As a result, they had forcibly admitted him for B.Sc (Agri) course in Dhapoli. Owing to the implementation of lockdown due to Coronavirus, he had returned and was staying in the city.
