Renowned counsel Pradeep Deshmukh passes away

Aurangabad, June 18:

Renowned counsel Pradeep Govindrao Deshmukh (67, N-2, Cidco) passed away on Friday. The last rites were performed on him at Mukundwadi crematorium. He is survived by wife, son and daughter. He was the former president of Marathwada Janta Vikas Parishad, and through it he had accomplished several issues related to the development of the Marathwada region. He was always insistent on a seperate Marathwada state. He was president of the Aurangabad District Bar Association. He submitted several petition regarding the judicious distribution and Marathwada’s water rights in the division bench. Many eminent personalities have expressed that through their messages that his sad demise has created a huge vaccume in the social and legal arena. Adv Deshmukh was the native of Belkund village in Ausa tehsil in Latur district. After completing L.LB, he started practice in the Bombay High Court as the junior of Barrister V N Gadgil. When Gadgil became MP, Adv Deshmukh also went to Delhi with him. He gave a memorandum to the then prime minister to establish a division bench of the Bombay High Court and a Bar Association at Aurangabad. Due to Adv Deshmukh, Barrister Gadgil led the delegation. While working in Congress, he established Rajeev Gandhi Mitra Mandal. Later, he joined BJP. He had gained acclamation as an effective orator.
