Residents in Cidco Waluj Mahanagar fed up with constant water crisis

Aurangabad, June 8:

Despite the daily supply of 5 MLD of water from MIDC, the water crisis in Cidco Waluj area continues and the citizens have to face water scarcity. Citizens alleged that the Cidco administration is neglecting water leakages and illegal connections in the area.

Cidco administration supplies water to Cidco Waluj mahanagar phase 1, 2, 4 and urban settlements in this area. Despite getting abundant water from MIDC, citizens have to face constant water shortage. Currently, water is being supplied to the area after two days. However, in many areas, water is being supplied after three to four days. Due to low pressure and insufficient water supply, the citizens are facing severe water shortage. Due to lack of proper water supply, many citizens are quenching their thirst by taking water from jars and tankers. The problem of drinking water in the area has been raging since last month and the citizens have also agitated for a smooth water supply. Residents Anil Malwade, Hasan Sheikh, Narayan Hatole and others have accused the administration of turning a blind eye towards illegal water connections and leackages.

Daily supply of 5 MLD

The MIDC administration is supplying 5 MLD of water daily to Cidco. The Cidco administration has constructed water tanks with a capacity of 20 and 10 lakh liters each in Mahanagar phase 1 and 2. This water tank supplies water to about 10,000 houses in Cidco Waluj Mahanagar. Considering the growing population, the administration is in the final stages of constructing a water tank with a capacity of 25 lakh liters in Mahanagar phase 4, said assistant engineer Maruti Vavre. Cidco officials said that due to technical problems and irregular water supply from MIDC, water supply could not be maintained as per schedule.

Ignore water leaks

A large amount of water is wasted due to leaks in the main waterline of Cidco. Apart from this, many people have illegally taken connections on waterlines from Wadgaon to Dwarkanagri, which has resulted in low pressure and insufficient water supply in Cidco Waluj.
