Aurangabad, April 16:
The distribution of an equal quantity of water in the city continues to remain an unfulfilled dream for the citizens, for the past many years. Needless to say, the water supply management had also been collapsed. Many parts of the city receive tap water on the fifth day, but Cidco-Hudco sectors and Chikalthana areas get water on the ninth or tenth day. The situation is worsening after the commencement of the summer season.
The water supply to residents of Cidco-Hudco is made through a separate Express Pipeline from the master balancing reservoir (MBR) at Nakshatrawadi. The supply of water is also made through elevated storage reservoirs (ESRs) at Cidco N-5 and N-7 sectors. Accordingly, the residents of the Cidco N-2 sector were expecting to receive tap water after the ninth day on Friday but got disappointed.
When contacted the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) deputy engineer (water supply) KM Phalak accepted that the distribution of water to Cidco-Hudco sectors had been disturbed for the past few days. " We are planning to supply water to each locality on the fifth or sixth day, while some localities in Chikalthana are supplied water after few more days," said Phalak.
Besides, the AMC had appointed private contractors to supply water through tankers to more than 200 localities in the city. The supply is made through 85 to 90 tankers daily. However, the AMC does not have any system to cross-check the trips or the addresses where the tanker driver is delivering the water, it is learnt.
