Retired accounts officer duped online of Rs 3.6 lakhs

Aurangabad, April 12:

A fraudster duped a retired government accounts officer of Rs 3.6 lakhs online by bluffing him that his Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) simcard limit has expired, on April 11. A case has been registered in this regard at the Jinsi police station. The cyber criminal has been identified as Kuldeepsingh.

According to the details, Syed Qazim Ali Hasmi (69, Sadaf Colony) is a retired government accounts officer. On April 11, he received an unknown call and the person on the call told him that he is Kuldeepsingh from BSNL office and his simcard has expired and hence he will have to renew it. Then he asked him to download an app and pay Rs 11 online through ATM. He also asked the photo of ATM Card and passbook online. According, he completed the said procedure. However, later he came to know that Rs 3.6 lakh has been withdrawn from his account. A case has been registered at the at the Jinsi police station while PI R K Mayekar is further investigating the case.
