RTO generates 3 per cent more revenue than set target

Aurangabad, April 7:

Corona has changed the economic cycle of many sectors. However, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) Aurangabad has collected 103 per cent more revenue than the target given in the nearby collecting Rs 185 crore in the last year.

The RTO generates revenue through various means including registration of new vehicles, passing, issuing licence and action against violators. Due to the lockdown last year, many sectors experienced a setback. The RTO also faced difficulties as automobile showrooms were closed. However, the officials focused their attention on those who violated the rules during lockdown. But official work resumed after unlock. The showrooms were also permitted to function. People also purchased cars and two-wheelers in large number, generating more revenue for the RTO office. Thus the RTO collected three per cent more revenue than the target of Rs 181 crore. In comparison, the revenue of Rs 185 crore was collected, said RTO Sanjay Metrewar.

Received new target

The RTO office was given a target of Rs 276 crore for the year 2020-21. However, due to the outbreak of corona, the target was reduced by Rs 95 crore and brought down to Rs 181 crore.
