Aurangabad, March 19:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey today underlined that the MPs Imtiaz Jaleel and Dr Bhagwat Karad have been requested to seek the appointment of the union minister of human resources development (HRD) Prakash Javdekar in connection with the approval of the designs of Aurangabad Zoological (Safari) Park, at Mitmita. A fund of Rs 250 crore will be allocated for the park under the Smart City project, it is learnt.

" Our project management consultant (PMC) is based in Delhi. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the representatives of PMC could not visit the city. I discussed with PMC official in Delhi. The first phase of work of the park has been started. It includes the construction of the compound wall, levelling of the land and constructing the main entrance. The second phase will witness the main works of the project. Meanwhile, it is necessary to obtain the approval of the Central Zoo Authority. If CZA okays the designs of the proposed internal works, enclosures and other works, we could proceed further. We are waiting for approval. Hence, the public representatives have been requested to obtain the union minister's appointment to discuss the core issue. They assured of initiating in the matter," said A K Pandey.

It may be noted that the state government has provided 100 acres of land for the park to AMC. However, the civic administration demanded more land considering the project expansion in future. The proposal had been sent to the government. The above designs also mention the spacious land as part of the project, it is learnt.
