Aurangabad, Feb 28:

The groundbreaking ceremony of the second phase of the model railway station building was held by the then railway minister five and a half years ago. But in reality, no progress has been made. In addition, the work of electrification of the single-track railway line will be done soon by the railway minister. However, concerns are being raised by the activists regarding the progress of this work.

The Aurangabad railway station was included in the model railway station and in the first phase the present building was erected. The old building will be developed in the second phase of the model railway station. Bhumi Pujan of the construction of the building was held on July 3, 2015, at the hands of the then railway minister Suresh Prabhu. But even after five and a half years, this work has not made progress.

The railway officials said that the railway station will be constructed in collaboration with the ministry of tourism to facilitate tourists from home and abroad. Similarly, the groundbreaking ceremony of single track electrification work will be held at the hands of the railway minister at Aurangabad railway station soon. Against this backdrop, various works are currently underway at the railway station. The old station building is in a dilapidated condition, however, the building was painted recently. Railway officials said that no information could be given about the work on the second phase of the railway station at present.

Just assurances given

Only assurances are given by the railway administration. The officials state that a survey is ongoing. But no work is done on the ground. Many small railway stations in other cities were developed. But Aurangabad station has remained neglected. There is resentment among the people, said MP Imtiyaz Jaleel.
