Several municipal projects stalled due to corona

Aurangabad, June 9:

Many big projects in Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) are stalled due to the corona crisis. For the last one and a half years, the entire municipal administration has been engaged in the work of covid. The unlock is expected to speed up some of the stalled projects.

Work on the waste processing project at Harsul has been stalled for over a year. The work was stalled due to non-receipt of land for the project by the Municipal corporation. If this project is started, it will be possible for AMC to process another 150 metric tons of waste. At present, 300 metric tons of waste is being processed daily at Chikalthana and Padegaon. The AMC collects 410 to 425 metric tons of garbage every day. Out of this, 120 to 125 metric tons of waste is lying untreated. Similarly, the state government provided Rs 100 crore for roads. However, it took AMC four years to utilize the funds. The state government again gave Rs 150 crore to AMC for roads. But some of the road works are still incomplete. Likewise, the population of the city is increasing day by day. Public toilets are scarce. The AMC also decided to build toilets for women in five places. No toilets have been set up except at Aurangpura and Maqbara Road. The work of the Safari park has also not gained momentum.

Work of six petrol pumps

It was decided to set up six petrol pumps on municipal land in different parts of the city to increase income. The AMC succeeded in setting up the only petrol pump at Central Naka. The remaining five petrol pumps are in limbo.
