Smart City Mission: ASCDCL selects five roads to develop 17 km long cycle tracks in city

Aurangabad, Oct 16:

To develop a pollution-free environment and encourage the trend of bicycle riding in the city, the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL) will be developing cycle tracks of 17-km long on five important wide roads, under Phase I, in the city.

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator, who is the chief executive officer of ASCDCL, A K Pandey today confirmed the development. " The ASCDCL will develop cycle tracks on five big roads extending from Cidco to Harsul T Point; Harsul T-Point to Delhi Gate; Delhi Gate to Bibi ka Maqbara; Hudco Corner to Seven Hills and Railway Station to Kranti Chowk," said A K Pandey.

Earlier, the ASCDCL had organised a bicycle rally dubbed as ''cycles4change'' to mark Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. The administrator had announced the development of a cycle track in the city. Later on, Pandey held a meeting with the bicycle-associations to discuss and select the places to build cycle tracks. The commissioner of police (CP) Nikhil Gupta also extended his help in developing the track.

Pandey said, " We will be doing marking, placing symbols, go for colour coding on these cycle tracks and lastly display signboards to alert the vehicles passing through. Later on, we would spread murum, concrete or paving blocks on the sides of these tracks."
