Social media on radar of election officials?

Aurangabad, Nov 20:

The returning officer and divisional commissioner Sunil Kendrekar said that the election code of conduct for social media is there like other assembly and parliamentary elections. We will be keeping an eye upon the activity, he said.

There are 35 candidates in fray for Marathwada Graduates'' Constituency election. Of which, 14 are from Aurangabad district, eight from Beed and remaining 13 are from Purna, Parbhani, Nanded, Osmanabad, Jalna and Hingoli districts.

The campaigning of candidates of all parties and independents is going on aggressively on social media. However, due to the absence of watch on social media, it has found that the surveys are being conducted to know who will be the next MLC and other material which violates election norms are uploaded. The aspirants who could not get the nominations are also uploading posts to mislead the voters. A social media committee is functioning, but the sources informed that it takes action only if any complaint is lodged with them.
