Aurangabad, Feb 27:

The central government had proposed a survey of the 120 km of Aurangabad-Ahmednagar new railway line in the 2018 budget. Nearly after 3 years, the field survey of this proposed railway line has got approval. The survey will be conducted by a central railway team from March 1 to March 6.

A provision of Rs 21.75 lakh was made in the union budget in 2018 for the survey of the Aurangabad-Nagar route. But for the last three years, the work was being delayed. Now the railway ministry gave approval for the work. The traffic survey team will arrive in Aurangabad on March 1 for the field survey of the new railway line. The team will visit Aurangabad, Gangapur, Nevasa, Shanishingnapur and Ahmednagar by road till March 4. During the visit, they will also take stock of industrial areas, bus stands, railway stations and transport operators. Passenger capacity will be studied in view of this route. The number of commuters by road from Aurangabad to Nagar and Pune is large. Therefore, the Aurangabad-Ahmednagar railway line will be more important. According to railway associations, the route needs to be started with a view to providing direct connectivity to Pune.
