Suspect opens fire on hotel after refusal of marriage proposal

Aurangabad, March 31:

After refusal of his marriage proposal by a girl, a suspect opened fire on a hotel owned by her fiance at Ramgopalnagar in Padegaon area on Wednesday at around 3 am.

On receiving the information, the commissioner of police and other officers rushed and inspected the spot. A case has been registered at the Cantonment police station. The police have dispatched a team to search the suspect. The sources said that the suspect is a cousin of the complainant hotel owner.

Suspect Vishal Manohar Gadilkar (Kopardi, Parner, Ahmednagar) and one other person came on a motorcycle and shot two rounds on the hotel, the sources said.

Complainant Manish Kishanrao Gaikwad runs a hotel named Manish Inn at Ramgopalnagar in the Padegaon area. He lives behind the hotel with his parents and two sisters.

Manish was going to marry his maternal uncle’s daughter on April 25. Earlier, before the proposal of Manish, suspect Vishal had proposed to the girl for marriage, but it was rejected. Later, Vishal and his relatives came to know that her marriage was arranged with Manish, and hence they tried to pressure Manish to reject the marriage proposal.

However, Manish and his family were not ready for it, and the marriage was arranged on April 25.

On March 30, the Gaikwad family went to their house at around 10 pm, and hotel manager Shaikh Muzaffar was sleeping on the sofa in the reception room. At about 3 am, he heard a noise of breaking of glass. He woke up and found that the glass pieces fell on him. The glass of the reception room was broken. He called the hotel owner Manish.

They thought that someone would have pelted the hotel with stone. When they saw the CCTV footage, they found that two persons came on a motorcycle. One of them got down and shot two rounds, one at the reception cell and another on the hotel's first floor. He also threw a threatening letter in the lobby and fled away on the motorcycle.

Manish immediately informed about the incident to the police. Commissioner of Police, Dr Nikhil Gupta, DCP Nikesh Khatmode Patil, ACP Vivek Saraf, crime branch PI, Avinash Aghav, PSI Manoj Pagare, Sachin Wayal, P S Bhagile and others visited and inspected the spot.
