Thousands of employees of 14 universities to stage pen-down agitation from today

Thousands of officers and employees of various 14 non-agriculture universities of the State will stage week-long pen-down agitation from September 24 for their different demands including implementation of recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission and time-bound promotion.
Maharashtra University and College Employees Action Committee (MUCEAC) coordinator Dr Kailas Pathrikar said that the Central and State Governments implemented the new pay commission two years ago. The State Government gave benefits to teaching staff members of higher and technical education.
However, officers and employees of 14 universities still deprived of the benefits of the new Pay Commission. The employees'' unions held meetings with the government officers and ministers time and again, yet their demands were not fulfilled.
The employees set up MUCEAC, which held its meeting last week online. In the meeting, the office-bearers decided to stage pen-down agitation between September 24 and 30. Even after this protest, if their demands are not met, the Action Committee members will go for a strike from October first.
“The Government is just passing the time by giving oral assurance. The employees are upset over this,” he said.
Dr Pathrikar and Parvat Kasure He appealed to all the employees of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and affiliated colleges to participate in the State-wide agitation.
