Trader booked for cheating tobacco merchant of Rs 3.55L

Cidco police have registered an offence against a trader from Bidkin (in Paithan) on the charge of cheating a tobacco merchant for Rs 3.55 lakh. The accused bought tobacco and bidis on the credit of four days in October 2020. The name of suspected trader is Govind Narayandas Baldawa.

According to police, the complainant Sachin Jawaharlal Jain (35, resident of Pragati Complex in Satara Parisar) runs a tobacco shop in T V Centre area. Govind came to his shop on October 21, 2020, for purchasing tobacco material and bidis. The accused requested Sachin to release the material, and he will pay the money after four days. Govind also handed over a blank cheque of one chit fund society to the complainant to win the trust.

Believing him, Sachin gave the tobacco material and bidis of valuing Rs 3.55 lakh to the accused. When contacted for payment after a few days, Govind requested Sachin not to deposit the cheque for encashment and told that he is coming to the city to given the money. However, he neither came to his shop nor paid the dues. Later on, the accused Govind would threaten and abuse Sachin whenever he would make a phone call to remind about the outstanding. Hence the trader lodged a complaint against the accused from Bidkin at Cidco police station. PSI Balasaheb Aher is investigating the case.
