Traders' associations demand re-opening of shops on priority

Aurangabad, May 31:

The office-bearers of various traders and merchants associations today stressed on re-opening of the sealed shops, by levying some fine or minor action, on priority.

The shutters of the shops and establishments are down for the last 75 days. Our families are facing hardship and it is becoming impossible to survive. The business fraternity had always extended help to AMC and would never go beyond the rule of law, said Romi Chabbada, a businessman from Machhali Khadak.

The District Administration and the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) should have conducted today's hearing of the traders and businessmen under one roof and take a decision on re-opening of the sealed shops. The government will be losing revenue if the shops remain closed. The issue could be settled by issuing notices of penal action, mentioned a businessman from City Chowk, Ajay Talreja.

The Zilla Vyapari Mahasangh president, Jaganath Kale said, " The AMC administration conducted the hearing to re-open the sealed shops today. Accordingly, it was expected to take the decision by evening and remove the seals of the shops. The administration should not pass on the bucks on one another. The decision is burdening the common trader. Our association has brought the issue to the notice of the district collector in the meeting."
