Umber tree re-rooted at Aurangpura

Aurangabad, Jan 22:

A team of the municipal corporation successfully re-rooted an Umber tree (Cluster fig) at Aurangpura. The tree was to be cut down for private construction. However, the officials with the help of JCB, uprooted and relocated the tree.

A private person was given permission by the municipal corporation for construction on an open plot behind the Aurangpura police station. However, the municipal tree authority refused to cut down the Umber tree located on the plot. It was suggested that the tree should be re-rooted without cutting it down. Under the guidance of municipal administrator Astik Kumar Pandey, zoo superintendent Vijay Patil and his colleagues took the initiative. In the afternoon, the municipal team with the help of JCB made a pit on the side without cutting down the tree. The tree was then lifted with a JCB re-rooted to the side, said Patil.
