Vaccination drive on May 1 might be hampered

Aurangabad, April 28:

The government has announced that vaccination of persons in the age group of 18 to 44 years will start from May 1 across the country. But the district has not received vaccines for people in this age group. At the same time, the vaccine store is also empty.

Only 3,000 doses are available at vaccination centres in the district. Currently, people over the age of 45 are being vaccinated. Vaccination of youth above 18 years of age will start from May 1 in the country. Everyone over the age of 18 must register online to get the vaccine. It was announced that online registration will start on Wednesday. In fact, the health administration in the district is not aware of the registration and vaccination from May 1. Vaccination for this age group will only be held if more vaccines are available. The office of the deputy director of health has demanded vaccines. If the vaccine is given in the next two days, there are signs that the new vaccination drive will be smooth. At present, only 3,000 doses are available at the centres, said Dr Vijaykumar Wagh, district immunization officer.
