Volleyball court developed at Kham Riverfront

Aurangabad, April 3:

As part of the Kham River Rejuvenation project, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has developed a volleyball court on the banks of the river near Lokhandi Pool in the Cantonment area.

" A temporary volleyball court has been developed with cooperation from AMC's sports officer Sanjeev Balleya. The workers, employees, officials and citizen volunteers visiting the site to contribute to the project take some time off and spend time playing at the court. It helps build up camaraderie among the different stakeholders," according to an assistant project manager at Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL).

Today, the district mining officer Atul Daud along with AMC and ASCDCL officials played volleyball at the site to help boost the morale of the workers. AMC sanitation inspector Asadullah Khan and Garden dept's Tauqir Ahmed along with ASCDCL's Aditya Tiwari and Arpita Sharad were present on the occasion.

The task of river cleaning is implemented with the people's participation. Therefore, a cleanup, tree plantation and beautification drive are undertaken for citizens every Saturday. Even though the citizens couldn't participate in clean up drives due to the Covid-19 upsurge, the employees and officials of the AMC, ASCDCL and NGOs continue to contribute to the river cleaning project consistently. To beautify the site, the AMC had also painted the chambers, and walls along with the Kham.

The work of rejuvenation of historic Kham River was undertaken in line with the Maharashtra government's Majhi Vasundhara campaign by the AMC and ASCDCL along with Cantonment Board Aurangabad, Varroc and Eco Sattva from January, this year.
