Waluj MIDC police cracks murder mystery in four hours

Aurangabad, Jan 22:

An old man of around 55 to 60 years of age has been murdered at Bajajnagar by hitting hard on his head. The incident came to fore on Friday morning. The Waluj MIDC police cracked the murder case with four hours of the incident and arrested the murderer. The deceased has been identified as Sominath Bhura Rathod (Adgaon-Palshi) and the suspect has been identified as Bharat Raju Gadhve (23, Wadgaon). Gadhve killed Rathod over a quarrel erupted for the space for sleeping on the footpath.

A watchman saw an old man dead near Padmapani Buddha Vihara in Bajajnagar area on Friday at around 6 am. Some had hit him on his head due to which he died. He immediately informed about it to the Waluj MIDC police. PI Dilip Gangurde and others rushed to the spot. A beggar like old man was lying in a pool of blood and had severe head injuries. During the search, the police found a piece of paper on which a mobile number was written. When called on the number it was found that it was of the nephew of the deceased and the name of the deceased is Sominath Bhura Rathod. The police then sent the body to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post mortem.

The police immediately started the investigation and examined the CCTV cameras in the nearby area and found that a youth was wandering with Sominath in the area at around 1 am. The police arrested the suspect Bharat Raju Gadhve (23, Wadgaon) at Maharana Pratap Chowk. While constable Manmohan Kolimi and Deepak Matlabe were taking Bharat to the police station on the motorcycle. He jumped from the motorcycle and tried to flee away but the constables chased and nabbed him. During interrogation, Bharat told the police that he smashed the head of Sominath over a quarrel for space for sleeping on footpath.
